How do you know when your time is up and you've learned all you can at your current job (that you started at as a junior) and it's time to move elsewhere? I'm in struggle town trying to make the best decision! I know it's something that you'll end up working out yourself, but sometimes it's hard to know whether to persevere, or you'll do better by making a step forward and moving up elsewhere. It seems to be a trend that people never really move out of the junior role at the job that they ... Read More! »

Sometimes we can find the perfect soundtrack to Stan's WHIP. Before you go and show your work to people, or go for a job interview, always do your homework. No, not your maths and science homework. A bit of research on the company you are going to see. As Baden Powell told the Scout movement many years ago, it pays to be prepared. So rather than being the kid who fronts up and asks questions that begin with, “So do you guys do…,” you’ll be the person who impresses ... Read More! »

We also covered what Tom & Jules were 'answering' on our own Twitter feed. Rad. ... Read More! »

As a junior copywriter, working at a little agency in Brisbane and having just graduated from uni, I don't often get to do things that are 'big award' worthy. I think I've got few nice bits and pieces of produced work in my folio, but I'm wondering what the greater ad communities thinks of juniors putting scam ads in their folio. I have friends who have started their own little businesses (lawn mowing, a pub etc) and I've come up with fun little ideas for various ads and I'm trying to figure ... Read More! »

This week Stan explains that the key to landing a job may not be what's in your folio. I was at a lunch recently with the head of HR for a large accounting firm. We got to talking about companies and their culture. He told me that they had close to a 500 people apply for their most recent graduate intake program. And of that 500 he had hired just 5. So I asked him what set that handful of people apart. He told me that every single applicant was qualified to do the job. But ... Read More! »

I've got professional experience in media, comms and marketing but my true passion is beauty, fitness and fashion and I would LOVE to be writing on these things for a living. Sure, it's common and sure, it's competitive but have you got any tips or contacts? I'm also really keen to pick up some copywriting jobs. Do you know of any agents I should be in contact with? People gravitate to fashion and lifestyle usually because they are interested it. Find a spot where your previous experience ... Read More! »
