    JuniorTV // 07

We’re a little slow at getting our JuniorTV episodes up straight after the event. But at this event back in July, we were given some pretty rad tips on how to be a top gun junior playing the ad game from Jason Ross — who at the time was ECD at CHE in Melbourne. Mind you, these tips really apply to anyone, anywhere, regardless of what profession you’re going into. Yes, accountants, you too can foray into the video below and be sure to get some wisened advice to help flex your working muscles. So, if you’re looking for a creative job, trying to get hold of a certain mister-boss-man at agency A, or production company B, put two and two together and watch the bro below.

(Thanks again to Jonathan Lim (http://attheteaparty NULL.com/) for his video expertise)

Jo Walker, editor of Frankie Magazine (http://frankie NULL.com NULL.au/) spoke at our event a little while ago. For those of you reading in Albania or America or Brazil or Belize or Chad or Fiji or Honduras or India or Kosovo or Lithuania or Mexico or Oman or Taiwan or San Marino — well, basically any other country that isn’t Australia or NZ — Frankie is the shiz. Having Jo join us at Junior was super extra cool, and she certainly crammed a lot of handy tips into her 10 minutes.

Once again, a big thanks to our boy Jonathon Lim for bringing this to your screen.

Our inaugural Sydney event featured two of the most awarded creatives in Oz – Matty Burton and Cam Blackley from Droga (http://droga5 NULL.com NULL.au)5. Before you get too excited, there’s just one catch. We didn’t have a spare ticket to Sydney for our usual cinematographers. Darn. Instead, we made do attempting to piece it together with friends of friends and boyfriends of friends, and what you see is what you get. Infact, Matty and Cam were so good – we didn’t edit this at all (which worked pretty well for us un-film-editoring folks). Now, take out your pens and paper, cause you’re gonna wanna write some of this down!

Here at Junior we love the Internet as much as the next gaggle of square-eyed RSS-fiends, but compared to real-life, it sucks giant pear-shaped balls. You may be able to fly from tab to tab making click-leaps from Copenhagen to New York and back home again, but can you high-five new acquaintances over a beer in an authentic and hip warehouse space?

No! You can’t! Oh and don’t you devil’s advocate me Mr. Naysaying-Web-2.0-changing-the-face-of-communication-magee. I know your type and you’re wrong.

And that, our favourite bunch of blog-reading creatives, was an incredibly badly written and verbose introduction with the sole intent to convince you to come along to our Junior events, because the Internet never beats real-life.

At last April’s 10 tips in 10 minutes event, kids were sitting on the bar, some were hanging from the ceiling, most were sitting comfortably on chairs, but some weren’t, so yeah. What we mean to say is, ‘it was packed!’

Everyone was there to see Ghostpatrol (http://ghostpatrol NULL.net/)–illustrator, chilled bro, artist–speak about his life and times. Our favourite new JuniorTV cinematographer Louis Mitchell captured it all on film. Enjoy.

If you live in Sydney, Brisbane, somewhere else, or are just another lazy Melbourne shimshom, you definitely missed out on a great March Junior event. The throngs of good-looking Junior patrons were treated to a particularly interesting speaker in Barrie Barton–one of the talented few behind Right Angle Studio (http://rightanglestudio NULL.com NULL.au/), The Thousands City Guides (http://thethousands NULL.com NULL.au/), and Rooftop Cinema (http://rooftopcinema NULL.com NULL.au/). Lucky for you shimshoms, we recorded it onto a viewable video platform exportable to vimeo, which sits below in five minutes of well-edited glory. Once again, our favourite web-for-video specialist Jonathan Lim (http://www NULL.attheteaparty NULL.com/) was the culprit, and what a great culprit he is.

Remember our first foray into web videos? (http://vimeo NULL.com/7053650) It was unedited, dark, and for twenty five minutes you had to turn your volume up full blast just to hear a goddamn thing. But we’re trying really hard to get into this video shiz-nit, just incase you feel like watching Junior from your bathroom. Of course, we’re far too lazy to do it ourselves — so Jonathon Lim (http://www NULL.attheteaparty NULL.com/) did his thing for us. Check it out kiddies!

See this guy above? That’s Jason! Jason is a junior with a future. He’s a student at RMIT and already has an award (http://www NULL.campaignbrief NULL.com/2009/07/meet-australias-cannes-future NULL.html) from the relevant advertising award show in Cannes. He’s also a nice dude with a lot to say. Jason is the perfect example of the type of kid you’ll find down at the Junior events. Fun, talented and ready to drink. When you’re bored of him or the smell gets to you, there’s plenty more to shoot the shit with. (Sorry man, you don’t really smell. <3?) And if talented juniors aren’t your scene, we always make sure there’s some successful seniors to harass too…

People like Tom Martin and Julian Schreiber of Clemenger BBDO! They apologised for giving us more than ten tips in ten minutes, but that’s cool cause we didn’t mind. We even tried filming it for the first time, and although it’s definitely not TED (http://www NULL.ted NULL.com), you can still pretend you’re doing something for half an hour. We’re calling it JuniorTV Beta*. We’re gonna film every event with the high level of professionalism you’ve come to expect from us, then put them online. But for now, check out our terribly raw Beta* version, filmed with this piece of shit, by clicking this link here (http://vimeo NULL.com/7053650), here (http://vimeo NULL.com/7053650) (http://vimeo NULL.com/7053650), or here (http://vimeo NULL.com/7053650).

And if talented people of all ages weren’t enough, we gave away two O’Check stationary packs (http://twitpic NULL.com/kgrjn) worth $80 each. Donated by our terribly generous and pleasant friends at notemaker.com.au (http://notemaker NULL.com NULL.au/). They’re the best. Not only do they sell the best stationary online, they love giving us the expensive high quality shit to give to you. In exchange we say terribly naff things like, “Go to their website and buy stuff!” Yeah! See that? That’s our advertising skills at their peak! Fuck! We’re amazing!

Oh and let’s not forget 1000 Pound Bend (http://thousandpoundbend NULL.com NULL.au/) was a giant bear hug of a new venue. Ewan is a legend and Tiani is the kindest lady alive. We’ve got big plans for this new venue. Be ready for some wild parties and the most inspiring monthly event Melbourne’s seen since your mum. And by ‘mum’ we mean ‘Monthly Undertakers Meeting’. And by that we mean The First Tuesday Book Club (http://www NULL.abc NULL.net NULL.au/tv/firsttuesday/) on the ABC. Which is totally boring. So yeah. Keep coming. Don’t stop. The End.

    Yours forever and ever,

    The Juniorinos
